Alejandro Marichal: “We are expanding our staff and providing job opportunities for unemployed people, reinforcing a service that is essential for the municipality.”
Ruyman Cardoso: “This reinforcement allows us to better reach areas where more presence and continuity were needed”
El Pajar, Castillo del Romeral and the Los Olivos area, in El Tablero de Maspalomas, have been the first areas of the municipality where the removal of garbage and waste has been carried out after the signing of the collaboration agreement between the Department of Cleaning and the Foresta Foundation, an action that already allows to visibly reinforce the cleaning work in different points of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The Department of Cleaning has added 20 new workers to the municipal service thanks to a collaboration agreement with the Foresta Foundation. This measure directly strengthens the cleaning teams and improves service in various parts of the municipality. The new employees joined approximately two weeks ago and are already working in coordination with the municipal service.
The Councilor for Cleaning, Ruyman Cardoso, explained that the new workers primarily focus on trails, paths, rural access roads, scattered neighborhoods, and natural areas, where they perform tasks such as removing plant debris, improving the condition of the surroundings, and restoring areas that require more consistent attention. Cardoso noted that this additional staff "allows us to better reach areas where a greater presence and continuity were needed," while also facilitating more organized planning of operations and a stable intervention tailored to the specific characteristics of each environment.
This week, the new staff are also completing a training period in occupational risk prevention and machinery operation, necessary to ensure workplace safety and proper adaptation to their assigned duties. This training is being conducted alongside their daily work, facilitating a gradual integration into the service.
The hiring of this staff is the result of an agreement approved at the regular plenary session held on November 27th, through which the Foresta Foundation is hiring twenty unemployed residents of the municipality as specialized cleaning and maintenance workers. The project will last nineteen months and is aimed at strengthening efforts in areas where manual labor is particularly necessary.
The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, stated that “this action is part of the Department's objective to improve the service. We are not only expanding the cleaning service staff but also offering a job opportunity to unemployed residents of the municipality.” Marichal emphasized that the additional personnel “helps improve the day-to-day operation of the service and provide a better response to the real needs of the neighborhoods.”
This action is in addition to other measures promoted by the Cleaning Department to strengthen the service throughout the municipality, such as the improvement of collection systems, the renewal of material resources and the planning of new actions in different areas.
