The works have an allocated budget of more than 308.000 euros and an estimated execution period of four months.
The project will allow for the renovation of the pavement, the stands and the public lighting in one of Gran Canaria's most emblematic tourist sites.
The Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, an entity jointly owned by the Gran Canaria Island Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, has begun this week the remodeling work on the seafront promenade around the Maspalomas Lighthouse, a key action for the revitalization and improvement of this strategic space in Maspalomas Costa Canaria.
The project begins with the work of perimeter fencing of the area of action and the complete demolition of the existing pavement, which shows marked deterioration due to its age and the constant exposure to the climatic conditions of the maritime environment and the waves.
The project, awarded to Lopesan Asfaltos y Construcciones SAU, has a budget of €308.118,22 and an estimated completion time of four months. The work includes repaving the section of the promenade and the pier, reconstructing the sea-facing bleachers, transforming the stairs leading to Maspalomas Beach into a 5-meter-wide ramp, and upgrading the public lighting system.
Due to these works, the Craft Fair, which is usually held near the Maspalomas Lighthouse, will be temporarily relocated within the same area for the duration of the project. The Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium will provide timely updates via its social media channels regarding any changes or alternative arrangements that may arise, with the aim of minimizing disruption to artisans, residents, and visitors alike.
The project has prioritized maintaining accessibility and using highly durable materials capable of withstanding both the environmental impact and the high volume of people who pass through this space daily.
The project has the authorizations of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, the General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canary Maritime Space and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, guaranteeing compliance with current regulations in a particularly sensitive environment.
This project is part of the transformation initiative spearheaded by the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, aimed at improving the quality of public space and reinforcing Maspalomas' appeal as one of the island's leading tourist destinations. The promenade's renovation will contribute to a safer, more accessible, and more sustainable environment, adapted to the current needs of residents and the tourism sector.
