The Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, an entity jointly owned by the Gran Canaria Island Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, has published the contract for the renovation of the Santa Águeda seafront promenade. The project has a base budget of €862.660,58 and a six-month execution period, from the signing of the Site Verification Report to the acceptance of the completed work. The project will modernize this strategic area on the island's southern coastline, enhancing its appeal to tourists and its use by local residents.

The investment is financed through a designated grant included in the Strategic Tourism Grant Plan of Gran Canaria and awarded by Turismo de Gran Canaria, an agency dependent on the Cabildo, with the aim of improving the urban conditions of coastal areas of special tourist interest.

The project involves a complete redevelopment of this section of the promenade, located on the seafront and adjacent to a residential neighborhood with high pedestrian traffic. It is a local-scale project, but one with a significant impact, requiring meticulous coordination to ensure its proper implementation and execution, while minimizing disruption to regular traffic.

The planned works include the demolition and subsequent repaving of the existing pavement, the improvement of the retaining walls by installing new anchored coping stones, and the cladding of the promenade's low wall. Existing access points will also be renovated, and an accessible ramp will be constructed to improve universal accessibility.

The project also includes shaded areas with decking and pergolas, new children's play equipment, and an outdoor fitness area. This space, focused on physical activity, will feature a newly created area specifically for those over 14 years of age, dedicated to calisthenics, fitness, and strength training, promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

The project is completed with the installation of new street furniture - benches and litter bins -, the improvement of signage, the expansion of landscaped areas with the planting of palm trees along the promenade and the replacement of the lights with others with built-in solar energy and Starlight/CleanLight certification, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability and the quality of the night sky in the Canary Islands.

Interested companies may submit their bids until Monday, March 16, at 23:59 p.m. All information regarding the tender is available on the State Procurement Platform.
