One person seriously injured after their car fell down a six-meter embankment in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

A vehicle plunged down a six-meter embankment in the rural area of ​​Calderín, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, prompting a large emergency response. The driver, a 62-year-old man, was rescued from the car and taken to the hospital in serious condition.

 

A 62-year-old man was seriously injured on the afternoon of February 20, 2026, after his vehicle ran off the road in the rural area of ​​Calderín, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The incident occurred at 19:32 p.m., when the car left the road and fell approximately six meters down an embankment.

 

The Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received the alert at the indicated time and immediately activated the necessary resources. Upon arrival, firefighters from the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Fire and Rescue Service rescued the driver from inside the vehicle and secured the area to prevent further risks.

 

Emergency medical personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) provided medical assistance to the injured person, who had suffered several serious injuries. After being stabilized at the scene, he was transferred by ambulance to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria. The Local Police conducted the corresponding investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
