The Civil Guard has dismantled five drug-dealing points in the Gran Canaria municipalities of Mogán, Agüimes and Santa Lucía de Tirajana following an operation carried out between January and February 2026.
The Civil Guard of the Vecindario Company has completed an operation that has resulted in the dismantling of five drug sales points, arresting five people for alleged crimes against public health in the municipalities of Mogán, Agüimes and Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
The first arrest occurred on January 15, 2026, in the town of Puerto Rico, when plainclothes officers caught a suspect carrying out a transaction in the gardens adjacent to a leisure center. The suspect was concealing the substance in a clever false bottom of a menthol container to evade detection by sniffer dogs.
Subsequently, on January 19, 2026, a young man was arrested in Agüimes during a checkpoint on a road near a recreational area. In this operation, in addition to cocaine and loose change, officers found a 20-centimeter knife and a large screwdriver in the vehicle.
The series of operations continued on January 23, 2026, in Arguineguín, where a repeat offender was arrested while wandering in a pedestrian area. After a thorough search at the police station, more than 25 grams of cocaine were seized from his clothing.
Back in February, on February 17, 2026, the Civil Guard neutralized a drug hotspot on Acebuche Street in Vecindario. The suspect was using hashish consumption as a cover for distributing heroin and crack in the vicinity of a children's playground.
Finally, on February 24, 2026, a joint operation in collaboration with the Canine Unit of the Local Police of Mogán, on Tomás Roca Bosch Avenue in Mogán, made it possible to intercept another individual with various doses of cocaine and hashish prepared for immediate sale.
The key line of investigation focused on the use of discreet surveillance devices with plainclothes agents, which made it possible to identify erratic behavior patterns and act quickly at the exact moment of the illicit transaction, proving that the substances were not intended for self-consumption, but for retail sale, given the packaging systems and the volume of fractional currency seized.
In the total tally of substances removed from the illicit market, the Civil Guard has seized approximately 44,77 grams of cocaine, 40,59 grams of hashish and pollen, and 6,23 grams of marijuana, adding to it doses of extreme danger such as 3 grams of heroin and 1,07 grams of crack, along with objects that reinforce the violent profile of these activities, such as a 20-centimeter knife, a large screwdriver and several high-end mobile terminals.
The proceedings, along with the detainees and the seized items, which include more than 2.000 euros in cash, have been placed at the disposal of the Courts of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Telde, as appropriate by demarcation.
