San Roque University Hospitals (HUSR) has once again positioned itself among the most prestigious hospitals in the country after being included, for the seventh consecutive year, in the ranking World's Best Hospitals 2026 produced by the American magazine Newsweek in collaboration with the data analysis firm Statista.
In this edition, HUSR ranks 54th nationally, consolidating its position as the only private hospital in the Canary Islands present in this international ranking, a recognition that reinforces its leadership in private healthcare in the archipelago.
Newsweek's global report includes, in addition to the overall ranking, a list of the 100 best hospitals in each country, making it an international benchmark for hospital excellence. In its eighth edition, the study evaluated hospitals in 32 countries, selected based on comparability criteria such as population size, life expectancy, level of development, hospital density, and availability of reliable data.
The ranking is compiled using a rigorous methodology based on four main sources of information: recommendations from medical experts (physicians, hospital managers, and healthcare professionals), objective hospital quality metrics, existing data on patient experience, and a Statista survey on the implementation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMS). In the 2026 edition, the study has given greater weight to hospital quality indicators and incorporated new data related to accreditation, safety, quality of care, and patient experience, further reinforcing the relevance of PROMS through a more significant weighting.
This recognition positions Hospitales Universitarios San Roque as a benchmark in technology, high medical complexity and patient-centered care model, endorsing its continuous commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and quality in healthcare.
With over a century of history, HUSR continues to consolidate its national and international projection, placing Canary Islands private healthcare in the main rankings of healthcare prestige.
