San Bartolomé de Tirajana continues with its Municipal Plan for the Renovation of Children's Playgrounds

San Bartolomé de Tirajana is carrying out the comprehensive transformation of its children's playgrounds.

Since July 2023, the City Council has been implementing an ambitious Municipal Plan for the Renovation of Children's Playgrounds, representing a structural change in the model and image of the municipality's public spaces. The objective is clear: to recover, improve, and modernize play areas that had been completely neglected since 2019, transforming them into safe, inclusive, accessible spaces adapted to the real needs of children and their families.

Since the beginning of this legislative term, the playgrounds in the Las Lagunas Recreational Area in Tunte, the Plaza del Tablero playground (renovated in the summer of 2023 and currently having shade structures installed), the Fataga playground, and the playgrounds in Cercados de Espino and Juan Grande have all been completely renovated. In addition, the City Council has been using its own resources and municipal staff to progressively clean and improve the remaining parks in the municipality, with the aim of undertaking comprehensive renovations.

Regarding the Tablero multi-purpose park, it's worth noting that in June 2023, immediately after the current governing body took office, the Parks and Gardens Department discovered a technical report issued in November 2022 warning of the urgent need to close the park for safety reasons. This report, issued due to a lack of maintenance and the associated safety risks, had been ignored by the political leaders at the time, forcing the park's immediate closure. Following the necessary work, the improvement projects are now nearing completion, and the park is scheduled to reopen in the coming weeks.

The City Council has recently awarded the contract for drafting the technical plans for the comprehensive renovation of the municipal network of children's playgrounds. In recent days, the councilors for Parks and Gardens, Araceli Armas and Eduardo Armas, have personally visited the various parks with the technical teams drafting the plans to assess the specific needs of each space and ensure that the work meets technical, safety, and universal accessibility standards.

The result will be a network of modern, inclusive playgrounds with shaded areas and structural improvements that will allow for the safe enjoyment of children and peace of mind for families.

In terms of investment, nearly €900.000 has been invested in the parks already completed. The new San Fernando Multifunctional Park, which will be put out to tender in the coming days, has a planned investment of approximately €700.000, and the projected investment for the remaining parks in the municipality is around €3.000.000, reflecting the economic and strategic scope of this modernization plan.

The municipal commitment is not limited to the physical renovation of the facilities; the surveillance service for the busiest parks has also been put out to tender, and its provision will begin at the end of March, guaranteeing their conservation and proper use.
