The first deputy mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marichal, has confirmed in Berlin that the Kiessling family maintains its intention to develop the Siam Park project in the El Veril area, while the administrative processing of the Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Competitiveness Plan (PMM) that organizes this tourist area continues.
Marichal explained that the Urban Planning Department recently convened a coordination meeting with the Canary Islands Government to monitor the procedure following the issuance of the municipal report within the environmental phase of the plan. At this meeting, both administrations analyzed the content of the report submitted by the City Council and coordinated the next steps in the process.
The City Council moved last february The Government of the Canary Islands will conduct a technical analysis to ensure that the document complies with current municipal planning and applicable regulations, a necessary step for the plan to continue its processing within the environmental procedure.
“Maspalomas needs new projects that will help renew the tourism offerings and strengthen the destination's competitiveness. The Kiessling family's interest demonstrates that there is renewed confidence in Maspalomas and that we must continue working to ensure that initiatives of this caliber can move forward,” Marichal stated.
The Modernization, Improvement and Competitiveness Enhancement Plan for El Veril is the urban planning instrument that organizes the development of this tourist area, establishing the uses, conditions and implementation criteria for the planned actions, including the future water park.
The implementation of Siam Park in this area is conceived as a strategic action to revitalize the tourist offer of Maspalomas–Playa del Inglés, generate economic activity and strengthen the tourist attraction capacity of the municipality.
