The return of the prodigal son: Servatur reclaims its roots in Puerto Rico and accelerates its expansion

In the volatile landscape of the accommodation sector in southern Gran Canaria, few announcements carry as much symbolic weight as that made by Michael Lund Jensen, CEO of Servatur Hotels & Resorts. The company has confirmed that it is resuming management of Puerto Plata, the apartment complex in Puerto Rico where the brand was born exactly half a century ago, in 1976. This move is not merely a nostalgic exercise; it is a declaration of intent that marks the beginning of a phase of aggressive growth and professionalization of its core structures.

The return to its roots is accompanied by an immediate action plan. The restored confidence of the owners of Puerto Plata will translate this coming summer into a comprehensive renovation designed to reposition the property in the Gran Canaria market. For Servatur, the objective is clear: to raise the standards of this historic resort to align it with the demands of the European tourist of 2026, ensuring that its fiftieth anniversary coincides with an architectural and commercial renaissance for the property.

The addition of Puerto Plata is not an isolated event. With this signing, Servatur has now added three new resorts in the first quarter of the year, reaching a total portfolio of 34 properties. To manage this volume, the company is relocating its operations center to new, modern offices in San Fernando de Maspalomas, the renovation of which will be completed in approximately two months. This new corporate headquarters aims to be the technological and operational hub from which the brand's expansion throughout the rest of the Canary Islands and other markets will be directed.

Recognizing that inventory growth must go hand in hand with margin optimization, Michael Lund Jensen has opened the recruitment process for two key positions within the chain's organizational structure. The company is seeking a Revenue Manager to lead process automation and the implementation of revenue optimization technologies, as well as a Marketing Manager with a cross-functional vision across all its brands. These moves confirm that Servatur has transformed from a traditional property management company into a cutting-edge hotel operator, determined to lead the apartment and resort segment in southern Gran Canaria through data management and brand value.
