Maspalomas adjusts the measurements of the costumes for the Carnival Queen 2026

YURENA VEGA - M24H Thursday, March 12, 2026

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has published an official resolution to amend the rules of the competition to elect the Queen of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2026. The amendment, signed by the Councilor for Festivals and Events, Alexis Moreno, focuses specifically on the maximum dimensions allowed for the costumes that the candidates will wear on stage.

Following the discovery of an error in the original wording published last January, the new regulations stipulate that the decorative elements cannot exceed 4,50 meters in height, 4,50 meters in width, and 5,00 meters in length. This adjustment increases the depth (length) allowance by half a meter, while reducing the width by the same proportion compared to the previous text. These measurements include both rigid and flexible elements of the design.

The resolution maintains the other strict safety and participation rules for this Festival of Tourist Interest in the Canary Islands. The use of fire, flammable materials, or visual advertising on costumes remains prohibited. It is also reiterated that the floats must be original and cannot have won first prize in the carnivals of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or Santa Cruz de Tenerife earlier this year.

With the publication of this correction, the organization is entering the final stretch of preparations. In fact, today's event is the public drawing to determine the order of appearance, a mandatory event for all candidates vying for the title of Carnival Queen of Maspalomas.
