Norma Ruiz Brito and Coraima Martín Sánchez complete the court of honor as first and second lady on a magical night
MASPALOMAS INTERNATIONAL CARNIVAL PROGRAM 2026
Magic and color flooded the Maspalomas stage this Sunday, March 15th, in an unforgettable night where Estrella Jiménez de Bruin was crowned Carnival Queen 2026, wearing the spectacular costume "Alchemy," designed by Josué Saavedra Suárez and sponsored by Clínicas Doctora Hernández. The new queen captivated the jury, presided over by model Laura Ojeda.
The gala, masterfully presented by Raquel Sánchez Silva and Miguel Ángel Guerra, reached its climax with the reading of the minutes where the title of First Lady of Honor was also awarded to Norma Ruiz Brito, who paraded with the design “Raffinato” by Antonio Ceballos (sponsored by Gael Automoción and Darque Car), while the position of Second Lady of Honor fell to Coraima Martín Sánchez, with the work “La charca, donde anidan los sueños”, created by Masbe Creaciones with sponsorship from Carrozas José Halcón.
The show's opening marked a vibrant and nostalgic start, featuring, among other songs, the iconic "Hola don Pepito" by Los Payasos de la Tele (The TV Clowns), a nod that brought the thousands of people in attendance to their feet. Beyond the glitz and glamour, the gala used its social platform to deliver a powerful message against animal abuse. The artistic director once again surprised the audience, and the technical production was equally impressive, offering a high-caliber spectacle that defied gravity with perfectly coordinated acrobatics, elevating the artistic ambition of the evening and setting the stage for the parade of the ten candidates vying for the crown.
Rhythm and musical energy were undisputed protagonists thanks to the performances of the Kisamba and Baracoa troupes, who contributed the essence of dance along with the Armonía Show orchestra and the international artist Miriam Cruz, who transformed the stage into a real party, getting the entire audience dancing to her greatest hits, especially her performance of "La loba".
The evening concluded with the awards ceremony, where outgoing Queen Sarina Hernández also played a prominent role. Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez, First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal, and Councilor for Tourism, Events, and Festivities Yilenia Vega presented the sashes and trophies to the new royal court. With the final strains of the Carnival Anthem, Maspalomas bid farewell to its most glamorous night, ushering in Estrella Jiménez's reign in an edition that will be remembered for its technical spectacle, social awareness, and unparalleled festive atmosphere.
