A cooperation agreement between the City Council and COAG, aimed at social inclusion, begins qualified green training for 15 job seekers
The Department of Local Development of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and the Organization of Farmers and Livestock Breeders of the Canary Islands (COAG-Canarias) have launched a new free training program for unemployed people in the municipality, specializing in working with palm trees and protecting the natural landscape.
The 111-hour theoretical-practical training program has been underway since last week at the El Tablero Municipal Training Center, following the signing of the collaboration and cooperation agreement for social and labor inclusion, ratified by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez and the president of COAG-Canarias, María del Carmen Pérez Castellano.
“The care and environmental maintenance of the numerous green spaces and gardens in our municipality are, and will continue to be, a necessary source of employment. That is why the agreement with COAG is aimed at facilitating qualified training in this professional field,” states the Deputy Mayor responsible for the Department of Local Development, Elena Álamo Vega.
In this regard, the training that COAG is offering to job seekers includes specific training in working with palm trees, environmental awareness, circular economy and climate change, first aid, prevention of occupational risks, handling machinery such as chainsaws and brush cutters, and the handling of plant protection products.
This initiative is part of the comprehensive employment program 'Todo al Verde' 2025-2026, which is financed by the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE) and the State Public Employment Service (SEPE).
