Mogán: A man is on trial in Las Palmas for abusing his partner's child.

YURENA VEGA - M24H Monday, March 23, 2026

The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested a trial before the Provincial Court against a man, identified as AAA, accused of two counts of sexual abuse against a child under eight years old in the municipality of Mogán, Gran Canaria. According to the indictment, to which Maspalomas24H has had access, the defendant took advantage of his relationship with the child's father to commit the abuses during visitation periods at his home, on unspecified dates prior to September 2019.

The Public Prosecutor's Office details two specific incidents: one in which the accused allegedly undressed and touched the minor in the living room of the house, and a second incident involving touching over the minor's clothing. For these acts, classified as crimes of sexual abuse of minors under 16 years of age according to the Penal Code in force at the time of the events (Organic Law 1/2015), the Prosecutor's Office requests a total sentence of eight years in prison, four years for each of the two offenses.

The prosecution is also seeking a mitigating circumstance for undue delay, as the legal proceedings were stalled for reasons beyond the defendant's control from June 2023 to January 2025. In addition to the prison sentence, the prosecution is requesting seven years of supervised release, an eight-year ban on working with minors, and a restraining order prohibiting the defendant from approaching or communicating with the victim for eight years. Regarding civil liability, the Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking €10.000 in compensation for moral damages to the minor's legal representative. This amount would include applicable legal interest from the date of the sentence.
