Holy Week 2026 timetable guide in Maspalomas and Fataga: processions and religious services

Gara Hernández - M24h Saturday, March 28, 2026

Holy Week 2026 begins in southern Gran Canaria with a full return to normal liturgical celebrations. Next Palm Sunday, the parish of San Fernando in Maspalomas will once again feature its traditional display of palms and olive branches with three Eucharistic celebrations scheduled for 09:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 19:30 p.m. The highlight of the day will be the blessing of the palms, planned for the 11:30 a.m. Mass, where the largest gathering of worshippers from the region is expected.

During Holy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, parish activities will focus on spiritual reflection and communal preparation. The program includes the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 19:00 p.m., followed by the celebration of the Eucharist at 19:30 p.m. Priests have set aside specific times for confession before Mass to facilitate the sacrament of penance before the beginning of the Easter Triduum.

On Holy Thursday, April 2nd, the liturgy begins early with the recitation of Lauds at 09:00 a.m. in San Fernando. In the afternoon, attention is divided between the highlands and the coast: in the village of Fataga, the celebration of the Lord's Supper will take place at 17:00 p.m., while in San Fernando the ritual will begin at 19:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the Eucharist, the solemn transfer of the Blessed Sacrament to the Tabernacle (Monument) will take place, where the faithful may remain in vigil for a time of silent prayer.

On Good Friday, April 3rd, a day of fasting and abstinence, the day begins again with the recitation of Lauds at 09:00 a.m. The main event commemorating the Passion and Death of Jesus in San Fernando is scheduled for 19:00 p.m., followed by a solemn Stations of the Cross procession at 20:00 p.m. around the church grounds. It is a day of silence and reflection where the community commemorates the sacrifice of Calvary in an atmosphere of profound respect.

Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, April 4, marks the passage from death to life. Following Lauds in the morning, the great celebration of the Resurrection will begin earlier in Fataga at 18:00 p.m. In San Fernando de Maspalomas, the solemn Easter Vigil—the most important liturgy in the entire Christian calendar—will be celebrated at 20:00 p.m., culminating with the lighting of the Paschal Candle. Finally, on Easter Sunday, April 5, the celebratory Masses will conclude the week at their usual times of 09:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 19:30 p.m.
