A traffic accident in southern Gran Canaria mobilized emergency services on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred on the GC-1 highway, southbound, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The incident occurred at 19:03 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, when the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting a collision between a car and a motorcycle near Playa del Inglés. The motorcyclist was injured in the impact.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) attended to a 25-year-old man who presented with a serious pelvic injury at the time of initial treatment. After being stabilized at the scene of the accident, he was transferred by ambulance to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
The operation involved a fully equipped ambulance and a basic life support ambulance from the SUC (Canary Islands Emergency Service), while the Civil Guard was in charge of regulating traffic in the area and carrying out the corresponding investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
