The Maspalomas International Carnival has once again demonstrated why it is a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Canary Islands. On a day filled with magic and color, the Grand Parade drew hundreds of thousands of people, solidifying its position as the most popular event of the southern carnival season.

The parade set off promptly at 17:00 PM from Avenida de Italia after the traditional countdown led by municipal authorities: Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez, First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal, and councilors Yilenia Vega (Events and Festivities) and José Carlos Álamo (Security and Emergency). In keeping with the circus theme, a total of 108 floats paraded along Avenida Italia and Avenida Gran Canaria, transforming Playa del Inglés into a fun-filled and lively spectacle.

The parade featured a spectacular opening led by iconic carnival groups such as Comparsa Cumbacheros, Batucada Aborigen, Murga Las Crazy Trotas, Comparsa Cayo Mambí, and Batucada Piratas del Caribe. Following them, the dazzling royal court captivated the audience, highlighted by the presence of Carnival Queen Estrella Jiménez, Grand Dame Inmaculada Ojeda, and Drag Ávalon, accompanied by their respective ladies-in-waiting and finalists from the Drag Gala. Special mention goes to the Chinese Association of the Canary Islands, which added an exotic and spectacular touch with its traditional dragons, making a great impression on the attendees in its first appearance at the event.

Imagination knew no bounds: from costumes inspired by the circus to political satires featuring figures like Donald Trump, the parade delighted tourists and residents alike. To ensure smooth traffic flow, a complex mobility plan was implemented, including special public transport services on Avenida de Tirajana. The parade, which ended at the intersection of Avenida Gran Canaria and Avenida Touroperador Tui, was broadcast live on TV Canaria and RTVE.

Tomorrow the Maspalomas circus will offer its last performance, the end will come with the traditional burial of the sardine, in which, in addition, attendees will be able to enjoy a tribute concert to Juan Luis Guerra, thus saying goodbye to a long edition that will be recorded in the mobile phones and retinas of thousands of visitors.
