Alejandro Marichal: “This tender is the effective start of the project that responds to a historical demand, after decades without public housing promotion”

Lucía Jiménez: “The goal is for construction to begin by the end of 2026, meeting the deadlines set in our Housing Plan.”

The Housing Department of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is promoting the construction of 52 protected homes on plot R2 in Lomo de Maspalomas, the tender for which has been published by the public company VISOCAN, within the framework of the municipal Strategic Housing Plan after the formalization of the agreement between both entities in January 2026.

The project will be carried out through a mixed contract that integrates the drafting of the project, the direction of the work and the execution of the work, a formula that allows reducing deadlines and speeding up the start-up of the promotion.

The project has a base budget of €9,47 million and a 30-month execution period, and also includes parking spaces and storage units. The deadline for submitting bids is May 13, 2026, as per the call for tenders published on the Public Sector Procurement Platform.

Furthermore, the development will be carried out using partially industrialized techniques, a system that combines workshop manufacturing processes with on-site execution, which allows for reduced construction times, improved building quality and minimized impact of the work, thus accelerating the delivery of protected housing.

The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasized that this tender marks “the effective start of the municipal project, which addresses a long-standing demand after decades without public housing development.” He stressed that “we are not talking about plans on paper, but about projects that are now entering the implementation phase, activating public land and mobilizing investment to provide real solutions for residents.”

For her part, the Councilor for Housing, Lucía Jiménez, stated that “this tender fulfills the commitment made to the public and represents the first step in implementing the agreement signed with VISOCAN.” Jiménez added that “the goal is for construction to begin by the end of 2026, in accordance with the deadlines set out in the Housing Plan.”

This action is part of the municipal Strategic Housing Plan, which foresees the construction of more than 260 public housing units between 2026 and 2027, with a total estimated investment of around 35 million euros.

Specifically, the plan includes the construction of 152 homes for sale and 112 homes for affordable rent, distributed in different parts of the municipality and in different stages of development.

With this first tender in Lomo de Maspalomas, the Housing Department of San Bartolomé de Tirajana takes the step from planning to execution, launching a structural strategy to expand the supply of protected housing and facilitate access to decent housing for residents and families of the municipality.
