The victim is a Norwegian man, between 40 and 50 years old, who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest while ascending this well-known road in the municipality of Mogán.
A cyclist died on the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2026, after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest on the GC-505 highway, on the section located after the Las Filipinas neighborhood, heading towards Barranquillo Andrés, within the municipality of Mogán. The emergency call was received by the CECOES 1-1-2 emergency services at 11:45 a.m., and emergency resources were immediately activated.
The coordinating center provided first aid instructions to those who reported the incident until the arrival of the first Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). An Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit subsequently arrived, and its professionals performed resuscitation maneuvers, but ultimately they were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) also mobilized a medical helicopter due to the seriousness of the situation, although the landing was aborted after circling the area. Civil Protection personnel from Mogán, the Local Police, and other responding resources also participated in the operation, while the Civil Guard took over the investigation. The GC-505, which connects Mogán with San Bartolomé de Tirajana, is a road frequently used by cyclists due to its steep inclines and challenging route.
