Alejandro Marichal: “We are launching a people-centered roadmap, promoting projects necessary to improve the quality of life of our residents.”

By the end of the year, 28 million euros will be allocated for improvements in Housing, Social Services and Senior Citizens.

The Department for Senior Citizens of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, headed by Dimas Sarmiento (Canarian Coalition), highlights the progress of one of the strategic projects of its term: the future senior citizens' residence, which has a total budget of 18 million euros and whose design is already in the drafting phase, with an initial investment of 600.000 euros. The budget for its development was approved in an extraordinary plenary session, in which the necessary budget modification for its execution through the Mid-Mountain Association of Municipalities was carried out.

This initiative is part of a series of economic actions launched by First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal to mobilize €28 million by the end of the year, aimed at improving services in the areas under his responsibility. These actions are, in turn, part of a broader package activated by the City Council, which will mobilize nearly €60 million to strengthen public services in the municipality.

The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasizes that “these actions are part of a roadmap focused on people, with special attention to the elderly and social policies, promoting projects necessary to improve the quality of life of our residents.”

Within this framework, the areas managed by the Canary Coalition are activating, in the area of housing, a transfer of €6,6 million to the company Visocan for the construction of public housing, one of the main lines of action to address the housing demand in the municipality. In addition, €1,6 million is allocated in budget modifications, primarily focused on social services, senior citizens, tourism, and economic development.

In the social sphere, over €470.000 is being allocated to strengthen direct services for citizens, including emergency aid, social intervention programs, technical training, and community activities. In addition, €140.000 is being invested to improve the furnishings in day centers and the Alzheimer's center, with the aim of ensuring more appropriate and higher-quality care.

In addition, 131.000 euros are allocated in subsidies to social entities in the municipality, expanding support for the associative fabric and strengthening social cohesion.

On the other hand, in the urban planning field, an investment of 487.133,87 euros is being carried out for the expropriation of land in El Tablero, which will allow progress in land management and unlock pending actions.

Economic and tourism revitalization is also part of this set of actions, with more than 575.000 euros allocated to events, celebrations and tourism promotion, contributing to generating economic activity in the municipality.
