The City Council invested 547.451 euros from the Cabildo's Cooperation Plan in the landscape restoration and technical adaptation works of this urban space.
The residents of El Tablero have gained a new space dedicated to urban leisure and revitalizing local life with the opening this Sunday of the new Plaza del T-8. The venue, with its completely open structure designed to host public events of a certain size, such as fairs and open-air markets, was inaugurated in a festive atmosphere with the participation of the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, and council members, as well as the Councilor for Institutional Cooperation and International Solidarity of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Carmelo Ramírez Marrero.
The opening ceremony of the new Plaza took place in a fun and festive atmosphere between 10:00 AM and 16:00 PM. Many residents of El Tablero attended. For family entertainment, children's activities, a food area, and an agricultural and artisan market were organized, enlivened by musical performances from the Parranda A Kal y Canto and DJ Marre, and a concert by the Latin music group Nueva Línea.
The construction of this new fairground in El Tablero, adjacent to Avenida Francisco Vega Monroy, represents an investment of approximately €547.451, fully funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council's Cooperation Plan. The project, spearheaded by the Parks and Gardens Department under the direction of Araceli Armas Cruz and Eduardo Armas Herrera, has revitalized a 6.000 m² public plot of land, which had fallen into advanced physical and landscape disrepair. Located next to the CEIP El Tablero school, the site has been transformed into a much more harmonious space, better suited for various functions and uses by the local community.
