Tourism forecasts 2026: Luxury hotels in Gran Canaria will exceed 240 euros per night this summer

Yurena Vega - M24h Tuesday, April 28, 2026

The tourism industry in southern Gran Canaria faces the summer of 2026 under cost pressures that are redefining the behavior of the European market. Mabrian data, updated as of April 27, shows the Spanish outbound market as the most volatile, with one-way tickets ranging from €100 to €180 for the May-July quarter. The Norwegian market leads in air connectivity costs, approaching €400 during the peak weeks of July, while the UK and Germany maintain more stable fares in the €200-€300 range.

The accommodation sector features a pricing structure that rewards exclusivity, with significant gaps between categories. Five-star hotels in the south of the island set a minimum price exceeding €240 per night for standard stays on weekends in July. Four-star hotels show strong performance, ranging from €140 to €180, solidifying their position as the preferred option for upper-middle-class tourists seeking a balanced budget.

The 3-star category is under the most pressure from price parity, with rates rarely falling below €100 per night for stays from Friday to Sunday. The revenue management strategy for the August-October period, analyzed six months in advance, suggests continued European demand despite increased operating costs. The hotel sector is avoiding booking sources with prices far above the average in order to protect the destination's value on reservation platforms.

Gran Canaria's competitiveness in 2026 depends on visitors' ability to consistently purchase flights. The combination of an average European flight and a weekend stay in a high-end hotel puts the average spending at levels higher than last season. The south of the island leverages its guaranteed climate to offset an average ticket price that is already among the highest of its Atlantic competitors.
