Southern Gran Canaria is consolidating its position as the island's main hub for tourism and residential travel, according to the latest passenger flow data released by the telecommunications operator Orange, based on smartphone repeater signals accessed by Maspalomas24H. The municipalities of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Mogán account for a substantial portion of this traffic, registering an average of 203.000 and 156.000 journey starts each month, respectively. This high volume translates into constant interconnection between the two areas, with the flow from Mogán to San Bartolomé de Tirajana standing out at 99.700 trips—the highest recorded between different municipalities in the archipelago.
This operational intensity is complemented by the activity of other hubs such as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which tops the list with 280.000 initial trips, followed by Vega de San Mateo and Telde, both with 130.000 departures. Analysis of final destinations reinforces the importance of tourism, with San Bartolomé de Tirajana receiving 213.000 trips and Mogán another 122.000. In the rest of the island, the capital city handles 251.000 completed journeys, while Telde accounts for 180.000 and Santa María de Guía reaches 157.000. These figures consolidate the strongest inter-municipal travel flows in the archipelago, notably the route from Mogán to San Bartolomé de Tirajana with 99.700 trips and the reverse flow with 83.100.
The distribution of international visitors shows a dominance of the British market, with the United Kingdom contributing 113.000 trips. Germany follows with 70.000, Sweden with 60.000, and Italy with 24.300. The domestic segment, although with lower volumes, is notable for the presence of travelers from the Community of Madrid (4.340 trips), Burgos (4.300), and Vizcaya (2.230), followed by Barcelona (2.190) and Guipúzcoa (1.270).
