The youth tournament to be held on the next Canary Islands Day in Telde will bring together teams from Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in a unique grassroots football experience

Telde will become one of the great epicenters of grassroots football in the archipelago this coming May 30th, Canary Islands Day, with the celebration of the “Benjamin Football Tournament – Canaluz Cup – City of Telde 2026”, an event that continues to grow in anticipation and now adds a very special attraction: all participating boys and girls will compete with the official ball of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Thanks to the exclusive sponsorship of Canaluz, the tournament matches will be played with the new Adidas Trionda, the model designed for the next World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, thus turning the Canaluz Cup into a truly immersive experience for the young promises of Canarian football.

In this way, the youngest players will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent, technique and adaptability using exactly the same ball with which, just a few weeks later, the great international stars of world football will compete.

The organization emphasizes that this initiative "seeks to offer a different and motivating experience for the youngest children, bringing them closer to the elite of international football and making them experience the tournament in an even more special way."

UD Las Palmas, a major sporting attraction of the competition

Another of the major new features of this first edition will be the participation of the UD Las Palmas, current and recent champion of the Benjamin League of Gran Canaria, which will arrive at Canaluz Cup as one of the main sporting figures of the tournament.

Their presence raises the competitive level of an event that will bring together some of the most outstanding clubs in provincial grassroots football, and that will turn the Pablo Hernández Morales Stadium in El Hornillo into a great meeting point for the emerging talent of the Archipelago.

A tournament with inter-island representation

The Canaluz Cup will also feature a significant representation of teams from the other islands of the province, reinforcing the inclusive and regional character of the event.

From Lanzarote will participate Union of Sur Yaiza and the CD Puerto del Carmen, while from Fuerteventura will come CD La Oliva, teams that will travel to Telde to be part of an intense day of sports marked by coexistence, camaraderie and the spirit that unites us all on Canary Islands Day.

They will be joined by clubs from Gran Canaria such as UD Las Palmas, UD Telde, Unión Viera, Tamaraceite, Arucas B or Las Longueras.

Thus, the parallel with the tournament ball made for a three-country World Cup has - in the Canaluz Cup - its own particular Canarian form, with the integrated participation of the 3 islands of the province of Las Palmas.

Competition format

The tournament will bring together a total of 10 equipment, divided into two competition groups during the initial phase.

Each team will play four group stage matches, with games lasting 24 minutes divided into two 12-minute halves and a five-minute break in between.

The scoring system will award three points for a win and one for a draw.

After the first phase, the top three finishers from each group will advance to the Gold Phase, where the main title of the tournament will be contested through knockout rounds, semi-finals and a grand final.

Meanwhile, the teams that finished in fourth and fifth place will compete in the Silver Phasethus ensuring that all participants maintain competitive activity throughout the day.

The competition will start at 10:00 am and will continue until the afternoon, ending with the Gold and Silver finals scheduled for 17:50 pm.

Much more than football

In addition to the sporting competition, the organization is preparing numerous surprises aimed at both participants and the attending public, reinforcing the festive and family character of a day designed to celebrate sport and Canarian identity, on one of the most special days of the year.

La Canaluz Cup It has the collaboration of the Inter-Island Football Federation of Las Palmas (FIFLP), the Telde City Council and the organization of UD Telde.
