Strategic shift in Maspalomas: Hablemos Ahora breaks with the PSOE and seeks to lead the centrist axis of the South

The political landscape in the Canary Islands' economic engine is experiencing a low-intensity but profoundly strategic earthquake. Following its Third Island Congress, Hablemos Ahora (Let's Talk Now) has formalized a change of course, definitively distancing itself from the local PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party). Francisco Pérez López, re-elected president of the party by acclamation, has confirmed that collaboration with the socialists in the Tirajana municipality has entered an irreversible cooling phase. This break redefines electoral expectations in southern Gran Canaria for 2027, shifting the party towards a strategy of absolute autonomy and alliances with local political forces.

Pérez's decision not to delay any longer stems from the need to consolidate his own structure in the face of what he describes as a "radicalized polarization" between blocs. The leader has been adamant that he could not subordinate his organization's timeline to the internal dynamics of the PSOE, opting instead to reactivate his territorial machinery independently. This move leaves southern socialism in a vulnerable position in a region where majorities are traditionally fragmented and where the moderate vote will be the arbiter of the next political cycle.

Let's Talk Now bases its new phase on a political platform entitled "Let's Talk Now About the Center," where they advocate an ordoliberal model that combines free markets with social cohesion. In the context of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, this doctrine seeks to attract tourism businesses and the middle class, who perceive a lack of effective governance in the current administration. Pérez maintains that his party is no longer merely a symbolic project, citing the successful turnout at the Mercantile Circle as proof of a structure capable of mobilizing both young teams and established figures.

The party has already begun to build its safety net outside the sphere of influence of the major national parties. The agreement reached with the Southeast Group to run in Ingenio is the first milestone in a series of coalitions seeking to create a powerful municipal front. Although Pérez acknowledges that dialogue with parties like Primero Canarias has been nonexistent, he remains open to any party that respects the identity of Hablemos Ahora (Let's Talk Now). The objective is clear: to make the brand the key to the Canary Islands Government in 2027, starting from a solid base in the municipalities of the south and southeast, where discontent with housing management and tourism bureaucracy is fueling the growth of local political forces.
