The detainee, who even hid stolen goods in wooded areas, has already been remanded in custody after appearing before a judge.
The Civil Guard of the Las Palmas Command has concluded a police operation that has led to the arrest of an individual as the alleged perpetrator of several property crimes committed in different areas of the town.
The investigation began after a theft was reported at a business located on Insular Street. According to reports, the suspect took advantage of a moment of inattention from an employee to steal a laptop computer valued at €1.500, concealing it under his clothing before leaving the premises. This incident was captured on the store's security cameras.
The investigations carried out confirmed that this was not an isolated incident, but that the suspect had maintained a continuous criminal activity in the Vecindario area during the previous days.
The analysis of video surveillance images from several businesses proved crucial for the full identification of the perpetrator, who was already known to the agents due to previous interventions, in which he had been recognized without any doubt by the victims.
As a result of the search operation, a Civil Guard patrol located the suspect on Sabandeños Street and proceeded to arrest him immediately.
At the time of his arrest, the detainee spontaneously confessed to having sold some of the stolen goods, including a mobile phone and a computer monitor, at various locations in the town. Additionally, officers conducted a search of a nearby green area, where they located an industrial vacuum cleaner hidden in the vegetation. This vacuum cleaner had been previously stolen from a school using the "escalo" method (a technique involving scaling a wall or other structure).
The detainee is charged with the crimes of robbery with force, minor theft in relation to the laptop and the mobile device, and minor theft.
In view of the seriousness of the facts and the repeated criminality of the investigated, the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has ordered his provisional imprisonment.
