The XXXIV Maspalomas Summer University will analyze the new Law for tourist use of homes in the Canary Islands, in a course to be held on June 29 and 30, at the Maspalomas Cultural Center.

 

This program will comprehensively address the most relevant aspects of holiday home management in the Canary Islands, analyze the entry into force of the new Law 6/2025, of December 10, on Sustainable Planning of Tourist Use of Housing in the Canary Islands, and explain the tools for the correct implementation of new holiday homes and the maintenance of existing ones, in addition to offering practical strategies related to the legal regime of these homes in the island territory.

 

This course is aimed at students and graduates in Business Sciences, Tourism, Economics and Law, owners, managers, lawyers, real estate professionals or people interested in specializing in this subject.

 

The speakers are Javier Valentín Peñate, lawyer, PhD in Law, managing partner of Valentín Abogados and specialist in Tourism Law; Ignacio Cáceres Cantero, lawyer, professor of Administrative Law of the Master of Access to the Practice of Law ICALPA-ULPGC, and Aurelio Puche Ramos, PhD in Law, professor of Civil Law at the ULPGC.

The program will begin on Monday, June 29, with the presentation 'The new legal regime of holiday housing in the Canary Islands: what really changes?' and, at 12:00 pm, 'The key role of urban planning'.

 

On Tuesday, June 30, the session will explain 'How to obtain and maintain the right to operate a holiday home in the Canary Islands. Special reference to the transitional regime', and, at 12:00 pm, the session will cover 'Holiday Homes in homeowners' associations'.

 

The Maspalomas Summer University is organized by the Department of Culture of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Gran Canaria Island Council.
