The transformation of the business sector in Gran Canaria's main tourism engine is gaining financial traction through public procurement. The Gran Canaria Tourism Board has awarded a partial contract for services aimed at boosting the competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability of SMEs in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The procurement process, managed by the local administration from its offices on Triana Street, has a total base budget of €365.000, fully funded by the European Union. The local firm Consulta AyC-On, SL has emerged as the main beneficiary of this process, securing the two key financial lots of the public tender. The contract expires this June.

The tender, which received a total of four bids from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in each of its evaluated sections, has been resolved without the need to invoke exclusions for abnormally low bids. The winning bidder will implement an intensive program of technical assistance and management consulting after prevailing in a technical evaluation where the report, subject to value judgments, accounted for 40% of the score, compared to 30% for price and another 30% for attracting and promoting beneficiary companies. The schedule set by the public body places the implementation period between April 24 and June 15 of this year, although the final start date is contingent upon the signing of the formal contract.

The first intervention block, designated Lot 1, focuses specifically on strategic consulting services for the restaurant sector in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Consulta AyC-On won this sectoral bailout with a final bid of €58.000,66, an amount that rises to €62.060,71 once the Canary Islands General Indirect Tax (IGIC) is included. The Canary Islands consultancy's proposal prevailed decisively in an administrative competition where the highest bid from competing SMEs nearly reached the budget ceiling, at €66.518,69.

The second line of business awarded to the same company corresponds to Lot 3, focused on the diagnosis and digitization of the commercial sector in the southern municipality. For this section, the company, headquartered in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, set its execution costs at €43.492,00 net, which represents a total invoice including taxes of €46.536,44. The final amount for the lot allowed the administration to generate budget savings compared to the €54.750 originally set in the tender specifications, also beating the most expensive bid from the group, which amounted to €49.889,02.

The financial resources mobilized by Turismo de Gran Canaria are part of the C14.I1 investment of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of Spain, specifically linked to Sub-measure 2 of the Tourism Sustainability Plans in Destinations.
