The operation culminated in the arrest of a man suspected of drug trafficking. During the operation, 1,93 kilograms of hashish and 0,41 kilograms of cocaine were seized. Two officers were injured during the pursuit and apprehension of the suspect.

The Local Police of San Bartolomé de Tirajana proceeded in the early morning of June 4, 2026 to arrest a 41-year-old man, of Spanish nationality, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, after an intervention carried out within the framework of a preventive police control operation established on Avenida Alejandro del Castillo.

The operation, carried out by several local police officers, included specific signage, security measures to prevent evasion of the checkpoint, and the participation of the canine unit. The operation was aimed at reinforcing public safety, preventing drug trafficking, and controlling vehicle traffic in a high-traffic area.

During the inspection, officers selected a Volkswagen vehicle for further examination. The driver displayed a particularly nervous and evasive attitude toward the police instructions, initially attempting to avoid entering the designated inspection lane.

Once the vehicle was positioned in the search area, the officers took the appropriate security measures and proceeded to inspect it. During the search, one of the officers located a bag under the driver's seat containing several wrapped packages, apparently containing narcotics.

Upon noticing the discovery, the driver fled on foot, initiating an immediate chase by several officers towards the El Botánico shopping center and towards the GC-1 area, without the officers losing sight of the fugitive.

During the pursuit, one of the officers was injured after falling and required subsequent medical attention. Another officer continued until they surrounded the suspect, who picked up a large rock and actively resisted the police action.

Finally, the individual was subdued and arrested thanks to the quick intervention of the officers, who managed to control the situation despite the resistance offered and the injuries suffered during the operation.

As a result of the operation, the Local Police seized approximately 1,93 kilograms of hashish and 0,41 kilograms of cocaine, in addition to cash and a mobile phone. The seized vehicle was taken to the impound lot for further inspection and remains at the disposal of the courts.

The detainee, the seized substances, the confiscated items and the proceedings carried out were placed at the disposal of the competent authority.

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana Local Police Headquarters commends the professionalism, determination and operational capacity of the officers involved, whose actions allowed for the removal of a significant quantity of narcotics from public roads and the successful completion of a complex operation under risky conditions.

Likewise, the importance of the preventive security and control devices developed by the Local Police is highlighted, as an essential tool for crime prevention, the detection of illegal conduct and the protection of public safety.
