Salt stories at another “Open Ports Day” in Gran Canaria

 

Puertos Canarios celebrates in the port of Taliarte, in the municipality of Gáldar, an event of the “Open Ports Day”, an initiative with which the public entity will bring the daily activity of the regional ports closer to the citizens through free guided tours, informative tours and cultural proposals linked to the sea.

 

The program was presented this morning at a press conference by the managing director of Puertos Canarios, José Gilberto Moreno, who stressed that this action aims to open the ports to residents and visitors from a close, educational and participatory perspective. “We want citizens to enter the port, explore it, and experience it as a welcoming, useful, and vibrant public space. The Open Ports Day event was created to share what happens in these infrastructures from the perspective of culture, history, and respect for the sea.” he pointed.

 

The event in Gáldar will combine guided tours of the port facilities with the opportunity to learn about different aspects of port operations, in an experience designed for all audiences. With this initiative in Gran Canaria, Puertos Canarios aims to strengthen the bond between the ports managed by the regional government and the community.

 

The day will culminate with “Salt Stories,” a small-scale street theater performance for all ages, lasting approximately 40 minutes. Starring Marea, Nube, and Popa, the piece combines theater, music, and visual poetry in a rolling houseboat constructed from recycled materials, inviting reflection on sustainability, memory, coexistence, resilience, and respect for the marine environment.

 

The production, directed by Víctor Formoso and produced by Camino Viejo Producciones, aligns with the values ​​that Puertos Canarios places at the heart of its Ecopuertos roadmap. “Taliarte is a magnificent starting point for this project because it allows us to showcase the port as a place for meeting, learning, and culture,” Moreno added.
