The Urban Planning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has opened the preliminary public consultation process for the drafting of the future Municipal Building Ordinance (OME), an initiative that will update and modernize the regulations governing building conditions in the municipality. This ordinance will consolidate into a single document regulations that are currently scattered and, much of their content, come from rules that have not undergone a comprehensive review for nearly 30 years.
The new ordinance aims to adapt building regulations to the current needs of citizens, incorporating more modern criteria in aspects such as accessibility, safety, habitability, energy efficiency, sustainability and the quality of constructions.
The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasized that this initiative will provide the municipality with an updated and useful tool to address current and future challenges. "We are talking about a regulation that will influence how we build, renovate, and improve our municipality in the coming years. That's why we want citizens to participate from the very beginning and help us identify needs, problems, and opportunities for improvement," he stated.
Marichal added that "our goal is to have a modern ordinance, adapted to the current reality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and that provides greater clarity, legal certainty and efficiency to both residents and professionals."
The city councilor for urban planning, Davinia Ramírez, explained that the new ordinance will allow for the updating of technical and urban planning criteria to meet current demands. "Much of the current regulations come from standards that haven't been comprehensively reviewed in 30 years. This ordinance will allow us to incorporate more up-to-date criteria regarding accessibility, sustainability, energy efficiency, and building quality," she stated.
The councilwoman also emphasized that the new regulations will have a direct impact on citizens' daily lives. "We want anyone undertaking a renovation, promoting a construction project, or developing any activity related to building to find clearer, more understandable regulations that are adapted to the current reality of the municipality," she stated.
Citizen participation
Through this preliminary public consultation, the Department of Urban Planning wants to gather the opinions of residents, groups, professionals, companies and organizations potentially affected by the future regulation.
Contributions may focus on the problems that the ordinance must solve, the need for and timeliness of its approval, the objectives it should pursue, and possible solutions or alternatives that contribute to improving the final text.
The consultation period will remain open from June 12 to July 09, through the Notice Board of the municipal website https://www.maspalomas.com/tablon-anuncios and those interested can submit their opinions and proposals through the municipal Registry.
With this initiative, the Department of Urban Planning of San Bartolomé de Tirajana continues to update municipal regulatory instruments, strengthening citizen participation and moving towards a more modern, efficient regulation adapted to the current reality of the municipality.
