The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has approved an extraordinary extension of closing hours for hospitality establishments in the municipality due to the World Cup, which begins this Thursday with the USA, Mexico and Canada hosting its 104 official matches.
The measure, issued by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, responds to the special circumstances arising from the times of some matches, which will be played during the early morning in our time zone, and aims to make it easier for residents and visitors to follow the official matches of the championship in the restaurants and hotels that broadcast them.
The authorization is exceptional and limited exclusively to the celebration of the World Cup, to allow the monitoring of this important international sporting event to be compatible with the normal development of economic activity linked to the hospitality and tourism sectors.
The extended hours, until 04:00 hours, do not imply a modification of the operating conditions of the establishments nor authorize activities other than the retransmission of sporting events, with the rest of the obligations and limitations established by the applicable regulations remaining fully in force.
With this initiative, the City Council, presided over by Marco Aurelio Pérez, responds to an exceptional situation arising from a world-class sporting competition, facilitating its follow-up by residents and visitors, while respecting civic coexistence and complying with current legislation.
