The Port of Castillo del Romeral will host an event next Friday, June 19th, at 11:30 a.m., aimed especially at school children to discover firsthand how a Canarian eco-port works.
The program includes guided tours, demonstrations, and the performance of "Salt Stories," a theatrical piece to promote values such as sustainability, memory, and respect for the sea.
Canary Islands Ports will celebrate this Friday, June 19, in the Port of Castillo del Romeral, in the municipality of San Bartolomé, a new Open Ports Day, an initiative designed to bring the regional port infrastructures to the citizens and, on this occasion, also to public school, from a close, informative and participatory perspective.

The activity will take place under the motto “Get to know your Canary Islands ecoport” and will allow visitors to tour the facilities by guided tours, to learn in a practical way how they are integrated innovation and sustainability in port management and discover advances linked to the digitalization, the Energy Efficiency , clean energies and the improvement of services, in addition to enjoying the play “Salt Stories”, a small-format show aimed at all audiences.
The managing director of Puertos Canarios, José Gilberto MorenoHe emphasized that this proposal responds to the purpose of opening the ports to the public and sharing, in a simple and accessible way, all the work that is done to make these infrastructures more sustainable, more efficient and more useful for their environment. “We want those who participate in Castillo del Romeral to understand that a port is not just a transit infrastructure, but a living space, connected with its municipality and with the future of the Canary Islands.”he said.
Moreno also highlighted that the project of Smart Ecoports It allows progress in digitalization, clean energy and continuous improvement, but also in a new relationship with society. “These workshops help us explain, with real examples and activities designed for different audiences, how we work to have more sustainable ports, better connected and more committed to the community.”, Anadio.
