The Puerto de las Nieves will open its spaces to the public with educational activities, guided tours and workshops throughout the morning.
The awarding of the Canary Islands Blue Flags 2026 will be part of the program, but the main focus of the event will be the presentation of the Smart Eco-Ports model.
Puertos Canarios will hold an open day next Monday, June 22 , at the Port of Las Nieves , in Agaete , to show the public the scope of the Smart Ecoports project , a roadmap that puts sustainability , efficiency , technological innovation , digitization of processes and continuous improvement of port services at the center.
The event will combine an educational and an institutional dimension. From 10:00 AM, activities open to the public will take place, and at 12:30 PM , the Canary Islands Blue Flag 2026 awards ceremony will be held . The organizers emphasize that this event is part of a broader day designed to explain how the region's ports are evolving towards a smarter, cleaner model that is more connected to their environment.
The program will include guided tours, workshops, demonstrations, and educational activities to inform residents and visitors about the port's operation, its value to daily life on the island, and the progress already being made in environmental sustainability , energy efficiency , and modern infrastructure management.

José Gilberto Moreno , managing director of Puertos Canarios, emphasizes that we want Agaete to be a window to explain, in a close and understandable way, what a smart eco-port means today: a more efficient, more sustainable, more innovative port and more open to the public.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Agaete City Council and the Agaete Fishermen's Guild , and is designed as an invitation to view the port from a broader perspective: not only as a connection infrastructure and economic activity, but also as a space for innovation, ecological transition and citizen participation.
Puertos Canarios is a public business entity attached to the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands ; which operates under the name ECOPUERTOS AUTONÓMICOS DE CANARIAS.
