The regulatory document stands out for the firmness of its requirements to guarantee both the animal welfare such as the cleanliness of the event. One of the most striking rules stipulates that all participating livestock must have been milked the previous day, under penalty of immediate disqualification if this guideline is not met. In addition, all animals must have their corresponding individual identification by means of ear tags or microchips and be perfectly healthy. Owners will have to provide official certificates issued by the Canary Islands Government that demonstrate that their farms are free of serious diseases, requiring negative tests for tuberculosis, brucellosis, leukosis or pleuropneumonia depending on the species, as well as up-to-date vaccinations in the case of horses.
The technical jury will consist of a maximum of four veterinary professionals whose decisions will be final. To encourage participation, the organization will pay a fixed transport allowance to farmers who contribute a minimum of five goats or sheep (50 Euros), a minimum of two cows or bulls (50 Euros) or any equine specimen (25 Euros). For their part, the cash prizes will range between 150 Euros for the best specimens of cows and bulls in the country, and smaller amounts for calves or horses. The document notes that, according to tax legislation, all cash prizes are subject to direct withholding tax. 19 % for income tax purposes, therefore the company awarded the event will pay the transport allowances and prizes through completely separate bank transfers before the 5 September 2026.
