It's called the Maspalomas PornTypical Las Palmas civil servants. Just Google "Maspalomas porn" to see the surprise. Agaete porn is one thing, Maspalomas porn is another. The fact is, the Gran Canaria Island Council has taken the first administrative step to reconfigure the regulatory and environmental framework of the most emblematic natural area in the south of the island. From June 4th to July 12th, 2026, the public consultation period is open for citizens regarding the new Natural Resources Management Plan (PORN) from the field of Maspalomas Dunes, a legal tool called to redefine the balance between biological conservation and the pressure of the Canary Islands' tourism engine.

This planning instrument responds to the guidelines of the Law 42/2007 on Natural Heritage and BiodiversityIts central purpose is to technically justify the delimitation, classification, and networking of this ecosystem, precisely determining its relationship with adjacent urban areas and infrastructure. With the final approval of this plan, the declaration of the Maspalomas Dunes Special Nature Reserve (C-7) will acquire full legal effect, a protection that directly impacts territorial planning and permitted uses on the municipality's coastline.

The drafting of this Management Plan is not an isolated procedure; it serves as the cornerstone of the legal framework that will protect the area. The Island Council's objective is to establish a solid foundation that will provide greater legal certainty and effectiveness to the future definitive management instrument for the area: the Maspalomas Dunes Master Plan. By establishing the Natural Resources Management Plan (PORN) in advance, the relevant administration minimizes the risk of the courts overturning any future regulations implemented to protect the flora, fauna, and dune system.

Citizen participation is already active through the institution's transparency portal, where the base document —published along with its corresponding extracts in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) and the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC)— It gathers the first proposals and debates from residents, environmental groups and business owners in the accommodation sector of Playa del Inglés and Meloneras.

For the tourism sector in southern Gran Canaria, the development of this plan is of vital importance. The Maspalomas Dunes not only represent the main scenic and identity attraction of the destination for international markets, but they also suffer from a chronic process of erosion and sand loss caused, to a large extent, by urban barriers built in recent decades and the uncontrolled flow of people.

The new Natural Resources Management Plan (PORN) will more strictly regulate land use on the reserve's borders, requiring hotel chains, shops, and surrounding leisure services to adapt their sustainability policies. The management of natural resources will define visitor exclusion zones, authorized trails, and restoration measures. active ecology —such as the relocation of infrastructure that obstructs wind patterns—. This regulatory framework will ensure that the natural green space of Maspalomas remains viable in the face of climate change without stifling the economic activity of the island's main tourist municipality.
