Tirajana offers grants to encourage people to settle in southern Gran Canaria

City Council San Bartolomé has activated an economic stimulus plan to strengthen social cohesion and community activity in its different population centersThrough an official resolution of the Department of Citizen ParticipationThe council has announced the opening of the call for subsidies for neighborhood associations and non-profit organizations for the year 2026, with a total budget of 95.000 euros. 

This funding line aims to mitigate the operational strain experienced by community groups, especially in residential and mid-altitude areas that coexist with the reality of the island's main tourist engine. The resolution, signed by Councilor Dimas de la Cruz, establishes a procedure for competitive competition aimed at optimizing municipal resources.

The call for proposals is structured around two distinct funding modalities, allowing organizations to tailor their applications to their most urgent structural needs. On the one hand, the Activities Projects track fully covers the costs associated with training programs, community engagement workshops, activities promoting local traditions, and programs aimed at preserving Canarian cultural values ​​and identity among residents. 

On the other hand, the modality of Operating Expenses It is designed to ensure the physical survival of the company headquarters, by financing the rental costs o amortization of premisesas well as the fixed costs of electricity, water, and communications that often hinder the continuity of small groups. Selected proposals may be subsidized up to 100% of their total cost.

The concession procedure will be strictly governed by the General Law on Subsidies and by the Ordinance Regulating Subsidies of the Illustrious City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, approved in a municipal plenary session and modified to provide the text with greater oversight. neighborhood associationsFederations or confederations integrated into the municipality of southern Gran Canaria have a period of twenty calendar days to register their formal documentation through the electronic headquarters or the authorized registries, counted from the day after the official publication of the extract of the call.
