San Bartolomé de Tirajana celebrates Pride as a leading municipality in diversity, equality, and respect

 

El San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, through the Department of Equalityand the five groups LGTBIQA + The municipality commemorated this Friday the International Pride Day with the reading of a joint manifesto in which they reaffirmed their commitment to the footing, the freedom and human rightsThe mayor participated in the event. Marco Aurelio Pérez, members of the municipal corporation and representatives of Glay Maspalomas, Friends Against AIDS, Checkpoint Canarias, Chrysalis Canarias and the Maspalomas Observatory, plus Aylin del Pino Rodríguez Gil, recent winner of Miss Trans Spain 2026.

 

 

During the event, those who paved the way in defending the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community in contexts marked by discrimination and rejection were remembered, while the need to continue promoting public policies that guarantee true equality, prevent discrimination, and protect children, young people, and the elderly was emphasized. Participants agreed that prejudices, hate speech, and attacks still persist, making it essential to maintain institutional and social commitment.

 

 

 

The manifesto also highlighted San Bartolomé de Tirajana's international recognition as a leading municipality in diversity, coexistence, and inclusivity, asserting that no one should suffer discrimination based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
