Maspalomas strengthens the sustainability of its tourist services with new energy-efficient equipment

The Department of Tourism will install five kits in tourist information offices, the Yánez Museum and its municipal facilities to reduce energy consumption and move towards a more sustainable destination

 

The tourism brand Cheap flights from Maspalomas Costa Canaria has taken a new step in its strategy to sustainability with the incorporation of five energy efficiency kits These measures will reduce electricity consumption in various public spaces related to tourism in the municipality. The initiative is part of an in-kind grant awarded by the Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands and financed with European funds Next Generation US.

Each of the kits includes a smart power strip To optimize the switching on and off of electrical equipment, a smart plug to monitor energy consumption, a thermo-hygrometer to control temperature and ambient humidity, weatherstripping designed to improve the thermal insulation of buildings and informational material aimed at promoting energy saving habits among workers and users.

Marichal added that "Maspalomas Costa Canaria wants to continue being an international benchmark not only for the excellence of its tourism product, but also for its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the management of public services received by our visitors."

 

For her part, the Councilor for Tourism, Yilenia VegaHe explained that "these kits allow us to improve the energy efficiency of our offices and tourist information centers through simple, quick-to-implement solutions with a direct impact on reducing energy consumption."

 

The councilwoman also pointed out that "sustainability is also built from daily management. Incorporating these types of tools means improving our tourism services, reducing operating costs, and contributing to greater awareness among both municipal staff and visitors about the importance of responsible energy consumption."
