The leading electricity company in the Canary Islands, serving all of Spain, reinforces its commitment to grassroots sports in the Canary Islands by supporting an initiative that promotes the values of basketball among children and young people across the island.
There are sponsors who put their logo on a poster or a t-shirt. And there are companies that decide to truly get involved in projects that help build the future of the Canary Islands.
With that philosophy, CanaluzThe 100% Canarian energy company, has renewed its commitment to the sport of the Islands by becoming an official sponsor of the XI Summer Clinic of the Gran Canaria Basketball Veterans Association, an already established event, as demonstrated by its ten previous editions, and which will bring together from 6 to 17 July next, to boys and girls between 8 and 15 years in the fields of Pepe Armas, in Siete Palmas, where they will learn basketball from some of the great figures of this sport in the Canary Islands.
A Luxury Ambassador
The initiative also includes the participation of Carmelo Cabrera, Olympic Ambassador from Canaluz and one of the greatest Canarian legends of Spanish basketball, whose sporting and human trajectory represents the same values that inspire this project: effort, respect, camaraderie, overcoming and inclusion.
"Basketball has given me unforgettable moments, but the most important thing it has given me is its values. That's why I'm so excited to be part of a clinic like this, where boys and girls not only learn to play, but also to live together, to respect each other, and to work as a team. If we can help them leave as better people, as well as better players, then our goal will have been achieved," says Carmelo Cabrera.
The former Spanish international also highlights the importance of Canary Islands companies supporting these types of initiatives.
"It's a pleasure to share this project with Canaluz. Their commitment to sport goes beyond mere sponsorship; it's a genuine commitment to supporting our clubs, our families, and grassroots sport in all its facets. The Canary Islands need companies that believe in their people, and Canaluz is proving that they do."
For Canaluz, the support for this Clinic is part of a broader strategy to support sport as a tool for social cohesion, training and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.

The Director of Communication and Marketing at Canaluz, Héctor M. Pérez QuevedoHe emphasizes that the company wants its growth to always be accompanied by a return for the Canary Islands society.
"Canaluz was born in the Canary Islands to provide energy to homes and businesses throughout Spain, but also to give back some of that energy to our land. Sport is an extraordinary school of life and we believe that supporting initiatives like this Clinic means investing in the future of our children and our society."
Pérez Quevedo emphasizes that the collaboration with Carmelo Cabrera perfectly symbolizes the company's philosophy.
"Having Carmelo as our National Olympic Ambassador is a true privilege. He represents sporting excellence, but also humility, approachability, and a commitment to the Canary Islands. These are values with which we fully identify and which we want to convey in every action we undertake."
In addition to supporting the Clinic, Canaluz maintains a collaboration with the Gran Canaria Basketball Veterans Association that allows it to offer special conditions in the electricity supply to players, coaches, clubs and fans, facilitating access to a close, transparent and savings-oriented service.
