Ingenio becomes a meeting point of four continents with its International Folklore Festival

Ingenio will celebrate a new edition of the International Folklore Festival 'Solidarity Showcase of the Peoples' from July 10 to 28, a cultural event that will bring together groups from Armenia, Bulgaria, Ivory Coast, Greece, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Spain and the Canary Islands

 

The municipality of Ingenio will once again become a meeting point for popular traditions this July with the celebration of the XXXI International Folklore Festival of Ingenio 'Solidarity Showcase of the Peoples' , which will develop a wide cultural, musical and educational program for almost three weeks.

 

The new edition of the festival will feature groups from four continents , hailing from Armenia, Bulgaria, Ivory Coast, Greece, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Spain, and the Canary Islands . The event will bring the music , dance , clothing , gastronomy , and traditions of different cultures closer to the public through a program open to both locals and visitors.

 

The festival will feature musical performances, parades, ethnographic exhibitions, food tastings, workshops, traditional games, and the Children's Festival of Traditions . One of the highlights will be the closing show, scheduled for July 25th in Néstor Álamo Park.

 

The program will also include the 13th Ethnography and Folklore Campus of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , which will take place from July 13 to 17 with conferences, round tables, presentations, musical performances and activities focused on the research and dissemination of traditional Canarian culture.

 

With over three decades of history, the Ingenio International Folklore Festival has established itself as one of the most important cultural events on the island's calendar. Throughout its history, it has featured the participation of more than 300 groups from over 80 countries, reinforcing Ingenio's role as a space for cultural exchange, community, and interaction.
