Canaluz's Olympic ambassador, Carmelo Cabrera, is leading an initiative that next week will include an emotional day of inclusion with the Felices con Narices Association, as well as the highly anticipated 'Canaluz Challenge' and the grand closing of the Clinic.
The courts of Siete Palmas bid farewell today to the first week of the XI Summer Basketball Clinic organized by the Association of Veterans of Basketball of Gran Canaria with the collaboration of Canaluz and the support of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria , through the Island Institute of Sports of Gran Canaria , after five intense days in which nearly one hundred boys and girls have turned each afternoon into a true celebration of basketball.
Because beyond the exercises, competitions, and technical improvement, the Clinic is, above all, a space for camaraderie, learning, and fun. A place where effort blends with smiles, where fellowship arises almost naturally, and where the heat of a Gran Canaria summer has also become an opportunity to learn that sport demands commitment, perseverance, and self-improvement.
The high temperatures during the afternoon sessions did nothing to dampen the participants' enthusiasm. Between hydration breaks, constant advice from the coaches, and the organizers' meticulous attention to detail, the courts maintained an atmosphere of tremendous excitement throughout the week, with families watching the children's progress from the stands and the constant sound of bouncing balls, laughter, and applause accompanying each exercise.
At the heart of all this activity remains a very special figure for Canarian basketball: Canaluz's Olympic ambassador, Carmelo Cabrera , whose rapport with the children has become one of the Clinic's greatest attractions. The legendary Spanish international shares not only his sporting experience each afternoon, but also values such as respect, discipline, teamwork, and a passion for continued learning.

The best part is seeing how much everyone enjoys themselves, regardless of their skill level. Nobody comes here just to train; they come to make friends, to share experiences, and to fall even more in love with basketball. That's the real victory , says Carmelo Cabrera.
The protagonists themselves summarize what they are experiencing better than anyone else.
"What I like most is that we all play a lot and make different teams every day ," says Daniela, 10.
"I thought it was going to be really difficult because of the heat, but once you start playing you forget all about it. It goes by really fast ," explains 12-year-old Alejandro.
"Training with Carmelo is amazing because he always encourages us and teaches us new things ," adds 11-year-old Hugo.
After the break planned for this Friday, the 11th Summer Clinic will resume its activity next Monday to face a second week full of special moments.
