The festival, which kicked off yesterday in Maspalomas, brings together until July 15th major international names in trumpet and brass music, with concerts, masterclasses, parallel activities, professional meetings and events open to the public.
The Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival began yesterday, July 9, and will continue to fill Gran Canaria with great music until July 15, establishing itself as one of the most outstanding musical events of the summer for performers, students, professionals and lovers of brass music.
During these days, the festival will bring together internationally renowned artists, teachers, and groups in Maspalomas, including names such as Peter Asplund, Oswaldo Zapata, Óscar Fernando Trujillo, Clement Saunier, Pacho Flores, Gábor Tarkövi, Merrie Klazek, Juan Antonio Martínez, James Fountain, and Sebastián Gil , among others. The festival's official website also lists several of these names as part of this year's teaching and artistic team.
One of the highlights of the program arrives today, July 10th, with a performance by MNOZIL BRASS , the renowned Austrian brass septet, who will be performing for the first time in the Canary Islands as part of the festival. The concert, titled “Brass Spectacular: MNOZIL BRASS 'Jubilee 30 years'” , will take place at 20:00 PM in the “Las Tirajanas” Auditorium at Expomeloneras.
The presence of MNOZIL BRASS is one of the most anticipated moments of this edition, both for the international trajectory of the group and for their particular way of understanding brass music, combining virtuosity, stage humor and a stage presence recognized on stages all over the world.
The Maspalomas Trumpet Fest concert series will continue over the next few days with different musical offerings in emblematic spaces of Gran Canaria, such as the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, the “Las Tirajanas” Auditorium of Expomeloneras, The 19th Hole Jazz Club, the Explanada del Faro de Maspalomas and the Ecumenical Temple “El Salvador”, among other spaces linked to the festival.
Among the planned performances are proposals such as the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra with “Latin American Airs”, the Jazz Night: Peter Asplund Jazz Quartet, the Gran Canaria Big Band & Peter Asplund concert, The Trumpet in the Temple, Echoes of the Andes to the Caribbean and the closing concert with Gran Canaria Big Band Jazz Ensemble & Clement Saunier.
In addition to the main concert program, the festival features a wide range of parallel activities , most of which will take place at Expomeloneras, except for those indicating a specific location. Highlights include the trade exhibitions , scheduled for July 10, 11, and 12; the MNOZIL BRASS masterclass on July 11 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM; and the 8th International Meeting of Women Trumpet Players , which will be held on July 12 at 1:00 PM.
The parallel program will continue on July 13, 14 and 15 with Outlet II , in addition to the Youth Festival, scheduled for July 13 from 15:30 p.m. to 19:00 p.m., and the social action starring the Gran Canaria Brass Quintet , which will be held that same day at 20:00 p.m. in Tony Gallardo Park.
The festival will also include the Jazz Trumpet and Improvisation Workshop with Peter Asplund , scheduled for July 13 and 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m., as well as a special radio program planned for July 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. These activities broaden the cultural, educational, and social scope of the event, bringing music to diverse audiences and creating spaces for interaction among artists, students, professionals, and the general public.
