The traditional Descent of Santiago El Chico once again brought together more than 300 residents, pilgrims, and visitors in Tunte, in a day marked by devotion, folklore, and hospitality. The procession culminated with the popular Tenderetunte, one of the most representative events of the Feast of St. James the Apostle.

Tradition once again graced the peaks of San Bartolomé de Tirajana this Saturday with the celebration of the Descent of Santiago El Chico , one of the oldest and most unique events of the Santiago Apóstol festivities in Tunte . The day began with a mass held in the Pinar de Santiago , accompanied by the La Zarzalera Folk Group , before the procession began its descent from the Cruz Grande to the church of Tunte along the historic Camino de Santiago.

The image was accompanied by the Dancers of El Pinar , who came from El Hierro , in a procession steeped in symbolism that keeps alive a centuries-old tradition. Unlike the pilgrimage, this act represents the transfer of Santiago El Chico from the hermitage of El Pinar to the church of Tunte, preserving the spirit of the ancient pilgrimages that have marked these festivities for generations.
The celebration concluded in Santiago Square with the Tenderetunte , where locals and visitors shared food, drink, and music in a convivial and welcoming atmosphere. The folk groups Kal y Canto , Merita la Pena , and La Arrancadilla provided the soundtrack for a day that once again brought together more than 300 people and reinforces the cultural and heritage value of one of Tunte's most cherished traditions.
