Seven people were injured this Sunday after a collision between two vehicles on the GC-1 highway, southbound, as it passes through the municipality of Agüimes. One of the cars overturned onto its side, requiring a large emergency response.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:18 a.m. , when the Canary Islands Government 's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received a report of a collision between two vehicles on the GC-1 highway , southbound. Emergency personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) , the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium , and the Civil Guard were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters secured both vehicles, one of which had overturned, and assisted the other emergency teams in attending to the occupants. SUC medical personnel treated a total of seven people : five with moderate injuries, who were transported by ambulance to the ICOD Ciudad de Telde Hospital , and two with minor injuries, who were taken to the Arnao Medical Center.
Once the medical assistance and transfer of the injured was completed, the Civil Guard took charge of the proceedings to clarify the circumstances in which this traffic accident occurred on the main communication road of Gran Canaria.
