Hotel forecasts in southern Gran Canaria already place the average price above 300 euros in winter

Revenue management departments at major hotel chains are implementing an aggressive pricing strategy in anticipation of the upcoming peak winter season. The latest predictive models, consolidated by the consulting firm Lurmétrika for the Gran Canaria Island Council, confirmed on Monday an unprecedented price surge that definitively undermines the concept of affordable tourism in the archipelago. Daily price projections for the accommodation sector reveal a sharp upward trend, placing base rates well above the historical average of recent fiscal years. This reinforces an inflationary trend aimed at maximizing profit margins per available room by capitalizing on the limited supply in competing Mediterranean markets.

Daily monitoring of hotel prices shows a trend that begins in early October with a base rate of €160 per night, a price floor that lasts only a few days in global booking systems. By mid-October, pressure from international demand pushes the average daily price to around €180, followed by consecutive increases that place rooms at the psychological barrier of €200 before the end of the month. Traditional tour operators observe how the flexibility of dynamic pricing penalizes last-minute bookings, forcing clients to accept substantial cost increases if they want to secure their accommodations on the coast.

Analysis of sector data reveals a clear operational distinction between the autumn transition months and the true start of the winter season. During the period from June to August, accommodation providers stabilized their rates within a moderate range, a trend that served as a prelude to the financial surge anticipated for the final months of the year. The true turning point for the market occurs between September and November, a period in which daily room rates systematically break through previous highs, driven by the arrival of the first influx of long-stay visitors from central and northern Europe.
