A 43-year-old man had to be freed by firefighters after being trapped inside a car that overturned on the GC-100. Both injured parties were taken to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria with moderate injuries.
The collision between two vehicles recorded early this Monday on the GC-100 road , at the intersection of Avenida de América and Antonio Benítez Galindo , between the municipalities of Ingenio and Agüimes , resulted in two people injured , one of them after being trapped inside a vehicle that overturned as a result of the impact.
The accident occurred at 05:42 a.m. , when the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received several calls alerting them to the collision and the rollover of one of the cars involved. Emergency personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) , the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium Fire Department , the Civil Guard , the Local Police , and the Gran Canaria Island Council's Road Maintenance Service were immediately dispatched.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that one of the vehicles had overturned and that its driver was trapped inside with his legs. After stabilizing the car and securing the area to eliminate any hazards, the firefighters extracted the occupant in coordination with paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), who stabilized him before transporting him by ambulance to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria . He is a 43-year-old man who sustained moderate injuries, barring any complications.
The second occupant involved in the accident was already out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived. After being treated by the SUC (Canary Islands Emergency Service), he was transported by basic life support ambulance to the same hospital with moderate injuries.
The Civil Guard took charge of the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident, while the Local Police collaborated in the security and traffic control operation. Meanwhile, the Gran Canaria Island Council's Road Maintenance Service carried out the cleaning of the roadway to restore normal traffic flow.
