The National Police have dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to trafficking hashish between the Canary Islands after seizing 350 kilograms of the drug hidden among ears of corn. Three people have been arrested and remanded in custody by court order.

Agents from the Drug and Organized Crime Unit (UDYCO) of Las Palmas began the investigation in early 2026 after detecting a network dedicated to receiving hashish from Morocco , preparing it and distributing it through different islands of the archipelago using a complex logistical system.

The organization used rental vans and logistics companies to camouflage shipments among legitimate merchandise. According to the investigation, the packages of hashish were hidden among boxes of agricultural products, and in the final phase of the operation, the 350 kilograms seized were concealed among ears of corn ready for distribution.

The operation culminated in the arrest of three suspected members of the organization , the seizure of several vehicles, and the confiscation of equipment used for drug production. Police estimate the bust represents a loss of approximately €700.000 for the criminal network . The investigation remains open, and further arrests are possible.
