The rapid action of the Fire and Rescue Service prevented the flames from spreading to the rest of the Eurocenter Shopping Centre, in an intervention coordinated with the Local Police and the National Police Corps.
Fire at the Eurocenter Shopping Centre in San Bartolomé de Tirajana: SEIS intervention
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana Fire and Rescue Service (SEIS) responded this morning to a fire in a commercial unit at the Eurocenter Shopping Centre in San Fernando . There were no injuries, but significant property damage was reported.
Emergency alert and activation
The emergency call was received by the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) at 06:19 a.m. , alerting them to a fire on the ground floor of the shopping center. According to the information provided during the call, flames were coming from inside the establishment, explosions were heard, and a large column of black smoke was visible, prompting the immediate activation of the emergency response.
Location and extinguishing of the fire by the SEIS
Upon arrival, firefighters located the main source of the fire in an upholstery shop on the ground floor of the shopping center's workshop area. After intensive firefighting efforts, the fire was completely extinguished. Work then began to ventilate and secure the affected area.
Material damage after the fire in San Bartolomé de Tirajana
No one was injured as a direct result of the fire; however, the affected premises suffered severe material damage. It is estimated that approximately 90% of its facilities, spread over three floors, were damaged by the fire.
Rapid intervention and collaboration between security forces
The firefighters' swift action allowed them to effectively control the fire and prevent it from spreading to other shops within the Eurocenter. Officers from both the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Local Police and the National Police Corps also participated in the operation , actively collaborating to secure the area and coordinate actions throughout the emergency.
Resources used by firefighters during the operation
During this intervention, the SEIS teams used 26 bottles of breathable air for self-contained breathing apparatus and more than 3.000 liters of water to carry out the tasks necessary to extinguish and control the fire.
