The fire broke out in a room on the eighth floor of the Taurito resort. The quick action of the resort staff and firefighters from the Puerto Rico Fire Station prevented it from spreading.

A fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon at the Hotel Lago Taurito in the municipality of Mogán prompted the mobilization of firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium , specifically from the Puerto Rico Fire Station . The fire originated in a room on the eighth floor of the hotel and was brought under control without any injuries being reported.

The Emergency and Security Coordination Center received the alert at 18:11 p.m. , after several calls reported flames and heavy smoke coming from one of the hotel rooms. Before the arrival of emergency services, the complex's maintenance staff acted with the available first-response resources, managing to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas.

Upon arrival, the Puerto Rico Fire Department completed the extinguishing of the fire, carried out ventilation work to evacuate the smoke accumulated on the eighth floor, and checked both the affected area and the adjacent areas to rule out the existence of new outbreaks or risks to the occupants of the establishment.

The operation also involved members of the security forces and personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) , who remained at the scene as a precaution. According to available information, there were no injuries or cases of smoke inhalation, while technicians will assess the material damage caused to the affected room and the smoke accumulation on the floor in the coming hours.
