The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has approved the report justifying the need and suitability for contracting the service for organizing, producing, and executing the 'World Tourism Day – Maspalomas Tourifest' event, which will be held in Playa del Inglés on October 2nd and 3rd, 2026, although World Tourism Day is September 27th. Processed under the Public Sector Contracts Law, the project has a total estimated value of €448.518,00 and will be structured into four specialized lots to guarantee the technical, artistic, and security success of this key event for the tourism sector of the southern municipality.
The first lot, called "Equipment and Facilities", has a base tender budget of 48.000 euros (excluding IGIC) and covers the installation, assembly and dismantling of the main stage, LED screen equipment, lighting, sound and communications systems, as well as 300 KVA electric generators, portable toilets, electrical connections, auxiliary structures, exhibition spaces and a pyrotechnics service for the closing of the event.
The second section, focused on "Artistic Production," has an allocation of €90.000 (excluding IGIC) and represents the largest portion of the contract's budget. This section includes the festival's direction and coordination, stage management and program development, set design, booking fees for participating musical groups and artists, as well as graphic design and official posters.
The third item, corresponding to the "Promotion Plan," has a budget of €3.000 (excluding IGIC) and includes the purchase of advertising space in media outlets, the placement of radio spots, and the adaptation of institutional materials to ensure maximum dissemination of the festival. The fourth item, focused on "Preventive Services," has a budget of €8.506 (excluding IGIC) and encompasses the design and implementation of the Self-Protection Plan, private security services, and the preventive healthcare necessary to safeguard the health and well-being of attendees.
Given the nature of the event and the insufficient material and human resources of the municipal council to handle a production of this magnitude internally, the Department of Tourism—led by Councilor Yilenia Vega—has opted for outsourcing through an open bidding process. As the contract includes special services as defined in Annex IV of current legislation, technical and quality criteria will account for at least 51 percent of the score in the evaluation of bids. The contract will have an initial duration of one year for the 2026 edition, expressly allowing for two successive one-year extensions for 2027 and 2028.
